Best Travel Booking Sites for Asia Travelers: Top 10 OTAs

Updated on 17 October 2026 | By Travel Geist

At a glance: For most intra-Asia trips, Agoda is now the leading hotel platform in Asia-Pacific, with a 20.9% share of regional hotel bookings in 2025. Trip.com suits China, Hong Kong and Macau, Traveloka suits Southeast Asia, and Webjet or Booking.com suit Australia and New Zealand. Compare two or three before paying.

Last updated 17 October 2026. This guide is desk research from published market data and review sources. I have not tested every platform for this article.

How were these 10 OTAs chosen?

We shortlisted platforms by three published signals: regional market share, web traffic, and coverage of both flights and accommodation across Asia-Pacific.

Rankings differ by data provider, so the order below reflects usefulness for a typical intra-regional trip, not a single league table.

Which destinations does this guide cover?

The guide covers the 20 highest-ranked Asia-Pacific cities in Euromonitor’s Top 100 City Destinations Index 2025, plus Auckland. The index scores cities on performance, policy, infrastructure, sustainability and appeal, so it is not a pure visitor count. Asia-Pacific international arrivals rose 10% in 2025 to more than 350 million, which makes this the region’s busiest corridor for flight and hotel bookings.

Auckland is included for New Zealand coverage, but it does not appear in the index’s top 100. Index rank and visitor volume differ. By 2025 international arrivals, Bangkok (30.3 million), Hong Kong (23.2 million), Macau (20.4 million) and Kuala Lumpur (17.3 million) lead the region, so Macau (index rank 61), Bali and Hanoi are also heavily booked. Index rankings are from a secondary republication of the Euromonitor list.

1. Agoda: best for Asia-Pacific hotel prices

Agoda.com

Agoda is a Singapore-headquartered platform, with its primary global operations based in Bangkok, and the strongest hotel option for most intra-Asia trips. Its regional share rose from 16.4% in 2022 to 20.9% in 2025, and it was the only major OTA still growing in the first quarter of 2026.

Pros

Cons

  • Initial search prices can exclude taxes and fees; switch the app’s price display to “Total stay”.
  • Reaching customer service can require a booking ID and the last four digits of your card.
  • Avoid “Pay Later”, which the same source says adds a 5% currency-conversion markup.

2. Trip.com: best for China, Hong Kong and Macau

Trip.com

Trip.com is the strongest full-service option when your trip touches Greater China. It has unmatched hotel inventory for mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, a price-match guarantee and 24/7 human support.

Pros

  • Full stay price, including taxes and fees, on first search results.
  • Free in-app calling to support, handy abroad.
  • Trip Coins and tiered perks such as lounge access and eSIMs.

Cons

  • Sorting and location filters are limited and sometimes rely on inaccurate centre-of-town measures.
  • Hotel inventory is weaker in Europe and North America, which matters little for intra-Asia trips.

3. Booking.com: best for flexible hotel stays and ANZ

Booking.com

Booking.com is the world’s largest accommodation platform. It remains dominant in Taiwan (72% of online travellers) and Vietnam (61%), and it was Australia’s biggest and fastest-growing online travel agent in one traffic study.

Pros

Cons

4. Traveloka: best for Southeast Asia flights and hotels

Traveloka is a Southeast Asian super-app. It holds 51% share in Indonesia and 140 million app downloads, and has been expanding into Australia and Japan.

Pros

Cons

5. Expedia: best for flight-and-hotel bundles

Expedia

Expedia suits travellers coming from ANZ or elsewhere who want a package. It applies significant discounts when you book a flight and hotel together.

Pros

  • Full prices, including taxes and property fees, on first results.
  • One Key rewards pooled across Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo.

Cons

6. Skyscanner: best for finding the cheapest fares

Skyscanner

Skyscanner is a metasearch engine, not a seller. It searches more than 1,200 partners and does not charge a booking fee, but you book with the airline or agent.

Pros

Cons

7. MakeMyTrip: best for Indian travellers

MakeMyTrip

MakeMyTrip dominates its home market. It controls 55 to 60% of India’s OTA gross booking value.

Pros

Cons

8. Webjet: best for Australia and New Zealand flights

Webjet

Webjet is a regional leader for Australians and New Zealanders. It describes itself as Australia and New Zealand’s leading online travel agency.

Pros

Cons

9. Rakuten Travel: best for stays in Japan

Rakuten Travel is a domestic favourite for accommodation. It lists 400,000+ properties and ties into Rakuten’s loyalty points; Tokyo, Osaka and Hokkaido regularly rank among Asia-Pacific’s most visited destinations.

Pros

  • Local Japanese inventory, including smaller inns, and points for members.
  • Support in 9 languages.

Cons

  • Japan-focused, so it will not cover a multi-country trip.

10. Tiket.com: best for Indonesia and Bali

Tiket.com

Tiket.com is a leading Indonesian platform. It holds 21% share in Indonesia and has exclusive Accor distribution covering 490+ properties.

Pros

  • Strong local pricing and inventory for Bali and Jakarta.
  • Backed by a large conglomerate, supporting competitive pricing.

Cons

  • Regional focus; limited use outside Indonesia.

Honourable mention: Klook is useful for tours and attractions; its hotel bookings doubled in 2024, but it is not primarily a flight seller.

What do flights and hotels cost in practice?

Prices change daily, so treat the figures below as dated snapshots that show the typical size of the gaps. I have not run these searches myself. The figures come from the linked pages, and the hotel and typical-fare figures come from a cashback site, ShopBack, which earns commission from some bookings.

The ShopBack fares are illustrative, from an article dated 21 July 2026 and updated in October 2026; it gives no search date or dataset. Expedia and Skyscanner figures were on their pages on 15 to 16 October 2026.

Hotel examples: same room, three platforms

ShopBack compares a 3-night stay in a standard double room with free cancellation, including taxes and fees. It calls the ranges indicative, not live quotes, and does not state the dates.

Phuket Patong480 to 580460 to 550470 to 560Agoda

What this means: Trip.com leads in Northeast Asia (Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei) and Agoda leads in Southeast Asia, but the gaps are small. Using the midpoints, Trip.com’s Shinjuku price is about SGD 30 (roughly 4%) below Agoda’s, and Agoda’s Sukhumvit price is about SGD 20 (roughly 5%) below Trip.com’s. That is a few dollars per night, not a reason to skip comparing. Other sources report wider gaps, such as Agoda 5 to 8% cheaper than Booking.com on Japan base rates, but Booking.com’s Genius discounts of 10 to 20% can close that gap.

For Korea, the same room can be 10,000 to 30,000 won cheaper on one app, and the cheapest platform often flips within days. Check member, app-only and loyalty prices as well, because they change the result.

How should you choose?

  1. Start with Skyscanner to see fares and routes.
  2. Price hotels on Agoda and Booking.com for the same dates, using total price with taxes.
  3. Add Trip.com for Greater China or Traveloka for Southeast Asia.
  4. Compare the final checkout total with booking direct with the airline or hotel.
  5. Check cancellation terms before paying and keep screenshots of your confirmation.
